The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is the largest national-level medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) that allots admission to undergraduate students in medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BSMS. This national entrance exam is conducted every year, across 154 exam centres. NEET examinations is the most popular medical entrance exam and get approximately 15,00,000 candidates writing the entrance exam.
Due to the sudden outbreak of Coronavirus, the National Testing Agency has postponed the NEET exam 2020. The NEET exam 2020 was scheduled for May 03, 2020, but the National Testing Agency has extended the date of the exam to the fourth week of the month of May.
Keeping the current stressful lockdown situation for students in mind, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has for the first time given permission to students to change their exam centres.
The notice regarding this was released by the Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal on his social media account. In order to do so, the candidates can change the city options under the ‘exam centre’ column of the NEET application form.
The candidates can now enter the names of three new cities and remove the previous options. Even then, the National Testing Agency can allot the new exam centre only on the basis of availability.
NEET Counselling
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will begin the NEET counselling 2020. The candidates who qualify the NEET entrance exam get the opportunity to attend the NEET counselling. In order to attend the NEET counselling, the candidates must log in to the official website and register for the counselling sessions. NEET counselling registration involves the following steps:
- First, go to the official website and click on ‘New Registration’. Enter all the basic information like Candidate Name, Roll Number, the Application number, Date of Birth, Mother’s Name, Mobile Number, Email address and Security Pin according to the admit card.
- A new roll number and password will be given to the candidate. The candidate has to use the new credentials to register for the counselling.
- Now log in to the MCC website and click on ‘Candidate Login’.
- Enter your roll number and password
- This redirects you to a new page, which asks details like Name, Roll Number, Registration number, Date of Birth, Mother’s name. After that click on ‘Submit’.
- The candidate will see all his/her details on the NTA database. Candidates must cross verify the entered details and click ‘Confirm Registration’. A registration slip is provided to the candidate.
- After registering, the students are supposed to submit the counselling fee. The fees can be paid via Debit card or Credit card or Net banking.
Some of the important documents the candidate need for NEET counselling includes NEET admit card, NEET 2020 Result or Rank letter, Class 10 & 12 certificates and mark sheet, 8 passport-size photos, NEET seat allotment letter, ID proof (Aadhaar card/ Pan card/ Driving licence).
