All you need to know about Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory

Watching Hannah Montana – The Movie one day a very heart touching scene played on the screen when Hannah was clearly upset and wrote the lyrics to Butterfly fly away….with the simple and yet alluring lyrics it just got stuck to my head.

How many times do you feel that way? That just reminds me of the fact how much I used to love catching butterflies (and release them afterwards of course) because as a kid it’s the most attractive thing to giggle about. Even now being an adult, whenever I see a butterfly fly around it just brings a smile on my face.

Cambridge is a beautiful city as you can imagine, but what entices me to come here is the butterfly conservatory.

With all the perfect glory of butterflies being bred in an in-kept conservatory, this place is a must-visit for summertime fun. Let it be a school study tour or just a simple curiosity when you make your way here on a Cambridge limo service, it becomes an out of the world kind of experience.

What’s So Cool about Butterfly Conservatory?

If you are beginning to ask the question then you are in real need of visiting the place. With several other places taking the spot for best recreational places, this place has a life of its own. How? Let’s take a peek-a-boo!

Let’s go back a few dates

Open on 26 January 2001 this conservatory was previously named as Wings of Paradise Butterfly Conservatory. But just a decade ago, it was renamed as Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory. Well, it does reflect the location and the main purpose.

The place is huge! Set upon 107 acres, it makes up for all sorts of activities one can think of when visiting the place.

It’s a tropical garden

The setup is unique and designed in the way to let butterfly species evolve more naturally. An indoor tropical garden was a fantasy of mine and the view it displays is more than stunning. It’s a paradise in Cambridge with thousands of butterflies strolling in free flights.

Ever thought you could observe a butterfly emerging from their chrysalises? It’s the best experience I had so far.

Best time to visit

I visited the best time to visit it is at noon. It’s neither too early nor too late and you can plan your hours enjoy the tour of the conservatory with ease. I packed my friends in Cambridge limo to get here so that we could reach on time (you know how girls are) and we all have been really looking forward to visiting it. But just so you guys know it’s closed during festivities such as Christmas or new year’s eve.

But guess what? It’s open even on Easter weekend! And even on thanksgiving. So you can plan a perfect day here with friends or family.

Hungry yet? Worry not, there’s a café too!

All that touring and excitement will give you an adrenaline rush, and that means you will get hungry too. Just after two hours of touring my way I felt my belly growling with hunger so to resolve my appetite I had a fresh Crispy Buffalo Chicken Wrap and a juice to go with.

The chrysalis café has an on-set menu and guess what? If you plan to have a birthday party even or any private dining you can book the place, which seems like a great idea now that I think of it as my birthday is approaching headfast!

How about a wedding?

Just our luck, the day we were visiting the place, we saw one side of the garden being touched up and asked what was going on there, we learned it was a setup for a wedding.

If you are planning on having a destination (sort of) wedding and in need of the venue, I will suggest it. The indoor gardens are mesmerizing and the view influxes with decorating lights will twinkle their merry way into your heart.

I would love to keep babbling about the place and won’t stop until the day ends.

The wonderful indoor locations with stunning drop backs are what bring people here. This conservatory is not only home to butterflies but other exotic fauna species as well. And if you visit the place you can find your own cool reasons to enjoy it!
